Message From the First Lady

“With nine kids, you have to be good at finding common ground, and finding ways we can give on each side and still be happy with the outcome.” – Glenna Bevin

Matt and I are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support from so many Kentuckians across the Commonwealth. Thank you for the honor of serving as your First Lady. Calling Kentucky our home is such a blessing, and our family is thankful for the opportunity to build a better, brighter future for our state.

I am so proud of my husband and know he is ready to lead Kentucky in a better direction. A self-made entrepreneur and extremely hard worker, Matt loves to serve his country and his fellow citizens. His success as a businessman, faith in God and huge heart will guide his decisions.

My heart lies with Kentucky’s children and families. My top priority as First Lady is to help build stronger families, which includes reducing child abuse throughout our Commonwealth. Child abuse is all too prevalent, affecting all races, across all income levels. Kentucky’s children deserve to have the best possible start in life, and that begins with prevention of, and protection from, abuse. I look forward to collaborating with child abuse prevention and treatment organizations, fighting alongside them to protect our most vulnerable citizens.

It is my vision, and I am determined to see it happen, that Kentucky will be the model when it comes to adoption and foster care.

As a mother of nine children – four of whom are adopted – the obstacles faced by Kentucky families trying to adopt concern me.  I plan to work to make adoption simpler and more affordable, while helping would-be parents navigate the adoption process. It is my hope for every child in Kentucky to grow up in a loving home, and I am committed to working to move us closer to that goal.

Thank you for the trust you have placed in us. Matt and I are honored and excited to serve you as Governor and First Lady. Guided by our faith and principles, we will work to improve the lives of Kentucky’s families, and pave the way for a better future throughout our state.

– Glenna
