David A. Dickerson was appointed Secretary of the Public Protection Cabinet (PPC) effective December 15, 2015, by Governor Matt Bevin. As the Secretary of the PPC, Dickerson oversees a wide range of state programs and services including the Department of Insurance; the Department of Financial Institutions; the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction; the Department of Charitable Gaming; the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission; the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control; the Board of Claims and Crime Victims Compensation; the Board of Tax Appeals; Boxing and Wrestling; and the Office of Occupations and Professions.
Dickerson is a graduate of Western Kentucky University. Prior to joining state government, he was a corporate officer in the family-owned Dickerson Lumber Company of Summer Shade. From 1994-1999, he served as Barren County Judge-Executive. Dickerson has two sons and three grandchildren.
