SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2009
8:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.
DERBY TIME IN KENTUCKY is truly one of the most exciting, colorful, and special times of the year.
Since the 1930s, there have been gatherings, both large and small, at the State Capitol to celebrate the Kentucky Derby, and Jane and I are honored to be hosting our second Derby Celebration on May 2. While this year’s celebration will be different from some in prior years, it will offer plenty of color, excitement, entertainment, children’s activities and, of course, food, prepared to perfection by the staff of the Kentucky State Parks system. There will be a nominal charge for the food ($1 per item), but there will be plenty of free and unbridled fun for the entire family.
We hope you and your family will attend the 2009 Governor’s Derby Celebration. Your invitation to this year’s celebration is available on this site, as well as information about all there will be to see and do at the Capitol on Derby morning. Bring your family and invite your friends. This event is open to everyone!
Come experience this great Kentucky tradition with us on May 2. Not all the fun and excitement on Derby Day happens in Louisville – there’s plenty right here in Frankfort as well.
We’ll see you May 2!
Sincerely,
Steven L. Beshear
