RecoveryLink has launched the Kentucky Disaster Response Recovery Support Service Hub: https://kentucky.myrecoverylink.com/ This free peer support service and referral system is for Kentuckians with substance use disorders impacted by the tornados. Trained peer specialists available Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. – ​4 p.m. EST, to connect via SMS, phone, or webchat. Specialists assist by offering access to social services, navigating treatment, or requesting work 1:1 with a peer via telerecovery. Peers are trained and certified in peer support, crisis intervention and motivational interviewing. They link those in need with local services and supports when possible and they have several local providers on a planning team to help support coordination. Offered at no cost to any Kentuckian.​​

​​Disaster resources are available for the deaf and hard of hearing in western Kentucky and assistance for those who need an interpreter or captioner for communication with FEMA or the Red Cross.

​Residents can request assistance through the Graves County Tornado Relief Hotline. Community members should use the hotline for help if they do not have food, water, tarps, generators, blankets, or other items. Please continue to use 911 for emergencies.

​Open Enrollment ended on Jan. 31, 2022. However, there are qualifying life events that may make Kentucky residents eligible for an exception, and they may apply for coverage during a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). You can qualify for an SEP if you have experienced a qualifying life event, including:
  • The loss of health insurance through a job.
  • ​Household changes such as marriage, divorce, a death in the family, or having a baby.
  • A change in your home address.

Applicants have 60 days to enroll in a plan if they meet SEP qualifications. Those who miss the 60-day window will need to wait until Open Enrollment begins Nov. 1, 2022, to enroll in 2023 coverage.

The Commonwealth Sheltering Program is available to survivors whose homes were majorly damaged, destroyed, or deemed not habitable in one of the 16 counties designated for FEMA Individual Assistance in the December 10 and 11 tornadoes. The program will provide temporary travel trailers to survivors who are unable to locate rental homes or apartments. To be eligible, survivors must be registered with FEMA, seeking shelter in their eligible county, and agree to the program terms.

The Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board (KCCRB) provides the entire spectrum of critical incident stress management (CISM) services from pre-incident training, acute crisis response, and post-incident support to emergency services personnel who have encountered a traumatic event. Traumatic events include: line of duty deaths, multi-casualty incidents, use of deadly force, suicide of a first responder, events involving children, prolonged incidents, terrorism, and any other overwhelming event.

These services are provided at no cost in attempts to prevent the destructive effects of emotional trauma, job related stress, and accelerate recovery from critical incidents before stress reactions can negatively impact an individual's career, health and family.

Virtual NA is a globally based collaborative service resource whose primary purpose is to provide a meeting search for both Online and Phone line meetings of Narcotics Anonymous hosted from different countries around the world.​

Emergency Prescription Assistance is available for uninsured residents for replacing prescription medicines or certain medical equipment lost or damaged in tornadoes, high wind or storms. Storm victims can request a free 30-day supply of certain prescription medications at any participating pharmacy and can renew those prescriptions while this federal program remains active. The program also pays for replacements of some types of durable medical equipment and supplies such as canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, blood sugar meters and blood sugar strips for diabetics. Vaccinations provided by retail pharmacies may also be covered under the program, also called EPAP.​​​

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website​ at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/, and should apply under SBA declaration # 17286, not for the COVID-19 incident.

To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, applicants should register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA mobile app. If online or mobile access is unavailable, applicants should call the FEMA toll-free helpline at 800-621-3362. Those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability, should dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.

Businesses and individuals may also obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) or emailing DisasterCustomerService@sba.gov(link sends e-mail). Loan applications can also be downloaded at sba.gov/disaster. KDVA has four​ Veteran Benefits Field Representatives (VBFRs) in the affected counties who are identifying veterans needing support. That support includes tracking benefits/compensation payments, referrals to federal VA crisis hotline, and more.  KDVA is also supporting the local Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) in the area.

Homeless Veterans Program – Eileen Ward is taking phone calls for small grants in support of displaced veterans and their families. The grants range from $150 to $200 to assist with purchasing small supplies, etc.  Also, the Homeless Veterans Program will direct veterans to state and regional partners/resources.
